The Governor of Jujuy, Gerardo Moralesblamed the president Alberto Fernandez and the vice president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner for the acts of violence that take place following the approval of the constitutional reform.

Through his twitter account, Morales wrote: “I hold the president accountable @alferdez already the vice president @CFKArgentina of the extreme violence that is taking place in the province of Jujuy. The violent are not going to twist our arm. After 40 years of democracy, I repudiate and call on all Argentines to repudiate what Kirchnerism and the Left Front are doing in Jujuy,” and accompanied his post with a series of videos.”

The president refers to the advance of the protesters who tried to enter the Legislature of the Province where, inside, the oath of the reformed Jujuy Constitution was taken. Outside, the police repressed with rubber bullets and tear gas.

Morales swore in the reformed Constitution of Jujuy in the midst of a fierce protest

Jujuy’s governor, Gerardo Morales, concluded with the formal steps for the implementation of the reformed provincial Constitution and took the oath, in the midst of protests once morest the modifications of the magna carta. At the headquarters of the local Legislature, the northern president was sworn in and proceeded to swear in the conventional constituents.

Said formal act was carried out this Tuesday, following Morales announced the withdrawal of two articles of the new provincial Constitution.

The presidential candidate of the UCR was convinced to move forward with the changes in the charter, but acknowledged that there are still “doubts” in the original peoples regarding the points that refer to the possession of land with precious natural resources such as lithium. Thus, he backed down with the two articles that address this issue, 50 and 36, and demonstrated his interest in discussing them once more: the rest of the articles were ratified and already put into effect with the oath in the Legislature of Jujuy.

While the act was taking place, in the vicinity of the headquarters of the provincial Legislative Power, a major protest took place, which included new incidents between the demonstrators and the Jujuy Police.
