If only the CO2 circulating around the Globe were visible, would humanity’s response be different? A new animation from NasaNasa allows you to see the thick blanket of carboncarbon that encompasses the Planet.
The Nasa visualization studio shows here the evolution of carbon dioxide emissionscarbon dioxide (CO2), the main greenhouse gasgreenhouse gas from human activities, during the year 2021. All regions are not affected with the same intensity.
The first element that is obvious is the enormous difference between the northern hemisphere, the northern hemisphere, completely invaded by CO2, and the southern hemisphere, the southern hemisphere, which is hardly affected by this pollution: this part of the world is simply less inhabited, and therefore less polluted. Conversely, we notice the hotspots global pollution: China and the United States first, followed by Europe and Saudi Arabia.
Another major interest of the animation: the very rapid disappearance of CO2 when arriving in the Amazon: a fine example of the capacity of plants to absorb and store this greenhouse gas!
