The Ultimate Guide to the Colmar Comedy Festival: Styles and Tastes for All Comedy Lovers

For all styles
and for all tastes

François Rinaldi, in a frock coat and top hat, officiated as master of ceremonies; a faded frock coat and a not very tall top hat giving him the look of a traveling circus ringmaster on the verge of bankruptcy. The hat was to serve as a begging bowl when leaving the café to collect donations for the benefit of the artists, all volunteers. On the stage, the five finalists had ten minutes to rally the public to their cause.

Guillaume Rhoden, out of competition, warmed up the room before the start of the official comic games.

Coming from the bottom of the Kaysersberg valley, Hétonque, winner in May, started the hostilities, followed by Strasbourg’s Stéphane, first in April.

After the intermission, Kewos de Guebwiller, winner in November, takes the spotlight, before giving way to Safir who convinced the audience in January and finally, Clément, victorious in February, the last two from Strasbourg.

The punchlines fuse, there are all styles and for all tastes. From below the belt, to the valves bringing a little more depth, cute or corrosive, futile or tackling societal subjects, the walls of the Café Rapp vibrate with the laughter of the room.

When the show is over, the five protagonists go up on stage together to be separated by the strength of the audience’s applause, measured by a sound level meter. The operation is repeated for the three standupers who have generated the most noise in order to designate the grand finalist.

The public chose Kewos who, in addition to the Statuette of Liberty for the 2023 humor trophy, was invited by the organizers of the Colmar Comedy Festival to appear in the first part of the opening gala of the next edition which will begin on November 28th.

As for the Colmar Comedy Club, it resumes on September 15.
