60% of Argentines believe that the economic situation will not change after the elections

Faced with a complicated economic context, the spirit of Argentines may suffer the repercussions, in one sense or the other, some will recharge their forces to continue facing inflation, low purchasing power, lack of credit and little financing, while others will lose all hope of improvement.

After a survey carried out by the Public Opinion Center of the University of Belgrano, data was released that reflected the low expectation that the delicate economic panorama might be reversed.

When the economy doesn’t forgive

In fact, 60% of the Argentines consulted stated that they believe that the economic situation will remain the same or even worsen following the presidential elections this year. In addition, the study also revealed that only 4 out of 10 people surveyed responded that they trust and anticipate that there will be a change in the economic climate following the November elections.

a moderate optimism

The report and survey showed that 60% are convinced and believe that the current generation of young people will have to face even worse economic expectations in the country in the future than those currently experienced.

Biggest impact: feeling of frustration

In turn, almost 80% admitted the emotional impact of the current context, regardless of the obvious material consequences. But fundamentally they associated it with feelings of “frustration” and “irritability”.

The effect according to the hit of the news

The survey also investigated and relieved how the impact is perceived according to the permeability to economic news and, especially, the minute-by-minute monitoring of the evolution of the dollar. The truth is that 50% of the population acknowledged following the price of the US currency carefully.

How much influence the media

Regarding the influence of the media and economic news for personal decision-making, the study showed that 54% of those surveyed admitted that they go to the media and news, to which it takes reference. On the other hand, 39% assured that it is their own experience that rules when making decisions. At an intermediate point, 34% combined both variables, that is, personal experience and news consumption.

From the university, they highlighted that “Personal daily experience and experience with the increase in prices has as much or more weight in public perceptions than the news that is communicated daily through the media.”
