Early in the morning, the scent of vanilla and butter escapes from the premises of the Esat [établissement et service d’aide par le travail, ndlr] Beaulieu in the eastern districts of Toulon. It is from here that the fast food dishes that supply the Naval Group cafeteria in Ollioules come out every day, but also the snack vending machines at the various sites of the Toulon-La Seyne hospital center.
These two customers represent 99% of the turnover of the structure which now sees further. “We are going to group together the sixteen sites managed by our two associations, and reorganize the activity into poles”explains Christian Bodin, the president of Avefeth, which today becomes Avens, by approaching Espérance Var.
Avens, for the future is built together. Because the 620 people recognized by the MDPH [Maison départementale des personnes handicapées, ndlr] as carriers of a disability, including 220 directed towards one of the Esat or company of the group, count on this pillar of the Var social and solidarity economy, to build their life. Some 320 accompanying employees (nurses, facilitators, educators, administrators, including twenty supervisors) are at their side, within an organization made up of four accommodation and activity centers, including that of professional integration which has three sites of production for a consolidated turnover of 3 ME.
SKILLS
“If our customers make us work, it’s because we have skills; they want quality services and competitive prices”, underlines Olivier Blondeau, the general manager. The merger project should make it possible to consolidate this model. With a budget of 25M€ supplemented in particular by public subsidies, for the needs of social support, Avens is preparing to invest 6M€ financed thanks to the economic model but also to the economies of scale which will be achieved.
450,000 coffees per year served in the Naval Group cafeteria
by ESAT employees.
“By the end of 2025, we are going to consolidate all our activities on our La Farlède site, which we own, and build a 600m² building on two floors with a shop reception in place of the current 1,400m² building”summed up the president.
In addition to making snacks and pastries as well as a catering activity for their customers, the employees of Avens carry out work on green spaces, electronic document management and printing at La Farlède, as well as sorting mail for account of La Poste but also laundry and maintenance of premises since the establishment of Paul Arène, in La Garde. This last place, of which Avens is a tenant, will be returned to its owner and Beaulieu might be sold.
Common right
“We are keen on this diversity of professions because it allows us to ensure access to the ordinary environment. In the past, we had a career in an Esat. Today, it is more and more a bridge: people can change jobs as they progress and according to their state of health, through the aid and support contract signed at the start and which is reviewed a minima once a year. Since January 1, people have the possibility of having common law contracts.
Avens, whose employees also manage the standard and rooms of Naval Group, hopes to conquer new markets, “for example all the sweet part of the hospital center, for the collaborators but also the patients”adds the Managing Director, whose teams have worked on a plan to manage production activities. “We are balanced overall, and the new tool will consolidate the model.”
With, in particular, a kitchen adapted to the growth in demand, which the brand new website should also help to boost.
