Entirely imagined by software and built by robots, “The impossible statue” is inspired by the work of great masters of sculpture. In Stockholm, this humanoid statue casts doubt on its gender. She is in any case bare-chested, covered for the bottom with a drape and holds the planet Earth in her hand. And it’s not your imagination that is playing tricks on you since to create this sculpture, Sandvik, the Swedish manufacturer used several software programs starting from an image created by an AI that carefully studied five internationally renowned sculptors. . You will recognize in particular the features borrowed from Rodin, Michel Ange or Augusta Savage.

For Elena, a visitor to the exhibition, the result is stunning: “I find it very beautiful, you can see that it was not created by man but it’s evolution. We have to accept technology. We have to move forward”.

Ever since artificial intelligence software became available to the general public, these technologies have caused a lot of concern for the future of certain professions and, among others, in the art world. Julia Olderius, curator of the exhibition, says she is aware of the fear that these innovations engender in people. “That’s why we wanted to create this space where you can discuss your feelings, what art is, AIs, etc.”. And although artificial intelligence raises many questions. To know if these productions are art, Julia Olderius specifies that : “It’s up to the public to decide”.
