After eleven seasons and numerous spin-offs, The Walking Dead returns in a new spin-off series, which takes place directly following the events of the last season. This new series, called Dead City, focuses on the characters of Maggie and Negan. The new show from the AMC channel has been available on the OCS platform since June 19. Dead City: what is the story of The Walking Dead spin-off?
Dead City is one of three spin-offs that have been announced to expand the Walking Dead Universe. While Rick and Michonne should share the star of an upcoming spin-off project, and Darryl will find himself in the heart of post-apocalyptic Paris, the first spin-off to see the light of day honors Maggie and Negan.
The two characters have a rather tumultuous shared past, given that Negan killed her late husband, Glenn, in cold blood when he was at the head of the Saviors, a group of survivors that numbered around a hundred individuals. However, water has flowed under the bridge since then, and Negan seems to have found his way to sanity. Although it was difficult, Maggie even found the strength to forgive her nemesis in the final season.
This new series takes place in a devastated New York, where the two ex-antagonists must face a new threat. More specifically, the official synopsis tells us that the plot of Dead City takes place a few years following the events that occurred in the Commonwealth (season 11), in the Manhattan district. The two main characters will have to join forces to save Hershel, Maggie’s son, from the clutches of a group of survivors led by a new psychopath, called “the Croat”.
The first season of Dead City should be straight to the point, since it will only involve six episodes.

Regarding the casting of Dead Citywe obviously find Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, alongside Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie. The actor Gaius Charles (Friday Night Lights) also plays the character of Perlie Armstrong, one of the Marshals of New Babylon. In the department of new figures, we also discover the actor Zeljko Ivanek (24 Hours stopwatch, Oz, Homicide) as the “Croatian”, the main antagonist of the series. Logan Kim meanwhile plays Hershel, Maggie’s son.
On the production side, the showrunner Eli Jornewho worked on the series The Walking Deadis assisted by Scott Gimple. The latter supervised all the productions that make up the Walking Dead Universe: Tales of The Walking Dead, World Beyond et Fear of the Walking Dead.
