Los Angeles (USA), June 18. The Angel City arrived in San Diego this Saturday following firing their coach Freya Coombe, following six games without winning and to face a Wave that were leaders of the NWSL (US women’s soccer league). However, the Los Angeles team pulled from caste and took a huge 1-2 away victory.

Kristen McNabb put the hosts ahead with a fantastic left-footed shot from outside the box, but Angel City came from behind with Paige Nielsen’s effort from a corner and an epic goal from Mary Alice Vignola in the 88th minute.

The stumble of the San Diego Wave left the way open for the Washington Spirit to move to the top of the standings with their 3-2 win over the Kansas City Current on Sunday.

It was not easy for the Spirit, who were already losing following 22 seconds of the game due to a goal from Michelle Cooper.

Things got even more complicated in the 23rd minute when the Brazilian Debinha scored a penalty to make it 2-0 for Kansas City.

However, the Washington Spirit signed a magnificent comeback with three goals from Ashley Sánchez, Paige Metayer and Tara McKeown, the latter two in the 82nd and 87th minute, respectively.

With 22 points and one of the Washington Spirit appear the Portland Thorns, who also beat the Chicago Red Stars 2-3.

Sophia Smith and Hina Sugita hit for the visitors, Ella Stevens cut a penalty for Chicago, Christine Sinclair opened a gap for Portland and Ally Schlegel put the final 2-3.

Finally, the North Carolina Courage thrashed the Orlando Pride 3-0 (Brazilian Kerolin scored one of the goals), the Houston Dash and the OL Reign tied without goals and Racing Louisville beat Gotham 2-0. EFE
