Technology: If you own a Mercedes-Benz, your use of ChatGPT can now seamlessly extend to your car. Here’s how.
ChatGPT is a valuable assistant, but it’s been limited to your computer screen and other personal devices – until now.
On Thursday, Mercedes-Benz revealed integrating ChatGPT into its vehicles to power in-car voice control systems, with the aim of making its cars more intuitive and smarter.
The AI chatbot will support the MBUX “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant with more natural dialogue.
The integration will be made available to 900,000 vehicles in a three-month beta program
Thanks to ChatGPT’s natural language processing capabilities, the voice assistant will be able to understand natural voice commands and even conduct conversations, according to the statement.
As well as being able to respond to commands regarding the weather and sports updates, it can now offer more comprehensive responses, including dinner recipe suggestions and new information regarding your destination.
The integration will be made available to 900,000 US vehicles through a three-month beta program. Feedback from this program will influence how Mercedes-Benz decides to roll it out on a larger scale in other countries.
Integration will be done through Azure OpenAI Service
The integration will be done through Azure OpenAI Service, a Microsoft Azure service that allows ChatGPT to be integrated into various use cases.
Mercedes-Benz assures users that their data will be protected and secure. Data from voice commands is stored anonymously in the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, where it can be analysed.
The company also adds that customers will know at all times what information is stored and for what purposes.
