We’ll tell you which highlights await you.
150 festival places, 290 market stalls and over two million visitors: After the Züri Fäscht was postponed last year due to the pandemic, the time has finally come: From July 7th to 9th you can party around the lake basin once more for three days and – to be danced. It is difficult to keep track of the numerous different concerts, slackline and wakeboard shows or dragon boat races in the Limmat. We therefore present seven attractions that you must not miss.
Fireworks and drone show
Are rockets going into the air for the last time on this Züri Fäscht? After this year’s air show was canceled for environmental reasons, it might also be the case for the traditional fireworks: Last August, the Zurich municipal council decided that the city council must examine how the fireworks can be replaced by environmentally friendly alternatives as soon as possible.
But this year too, the fireworks choreographed by experienced pyrotechnicians will delight thousands of people around the lake. The rockets will be launched at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 7, at 10:30 p.m. on July 8, and at 1 a.m. following midnight. After 2019, there will also be another drone show: on Saturday and Sunday at midnight and on Sunday evening at 10.30 p.m., more than 300 drones will once more fly through the air synchronized and transform the sky over Lake Zurich into a sea of lights.
Beach volleyball tournament «Yuh Beachmasters»
Die Yuh Beachmasters are among the best beach volleyball tournament series in the world. This year, following 2019, the tour will stop at the Züri Fäscht for the second time. In the stadium with around 1,000 seats at the Mythenquai lido, the best beach volleyball players in Switzerland play with two international teams to win the tournament. Admission is free on all match days, and all games are also streamed live on YouTube.
Chilbi & market stalls
Almost 300 market stalls and 70 shops and stalls entertain visitors from the Sechseläutenplatz to the Enge harbor dam and Mythenquai. Various attractions are also set up on Limmatquai, Bürkliplatz and in front of the Stadthaus. The Chilbi is not over following the Züri Fäscht: it will be extended until July 16 on the Sechseläutenplatz.
International folk dance and costume exhibition
During the Züri Fäscht, the federal costume festival takes place at the Lindenhof. In addition, over 30 folk dance groups from all over the world perform on the folk dance stage. Between the performances, the stage is open to everyone for free dancing.
Nivea UV camera
Anyone who goes to the pool or outdoors every day in summer knows how important sunscreen is. Direct sunlight without protection ultimately increases the risk of developing skin cancer. Sunscreen is also important as protection once morest premature skin aging and painful sunburn. The Nivea company wants to draw attention to this fact at the Züri Fäscht. With a UV camera set up at Stadelhoferplatz, visitors can test whether they have already applied sufficient sun protection. In addition, employees of the Cancer League will be present at the stand to provide advice.
Zip line across the Limmat
Anyone who has always wanted to fly over the Limmat can now make this dream come true: at the Züri Fäscht, a zip line enables the flight from Lindenhof to Limmatquai. The ticket is available at the Lindenhof, the zip line runs on Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
