Kiev ∙ Britain’s military officials have reported heavy casualties on both sides as clashes between Ukraine and Russia escalate. The casualties in the clashes in Zaporizhia and Donetsk provinces are now more severe than in the Bahmut conflict, where Russia suffered the most damage. Russia is also trying to inflict maximum damage on Ukrainian cities through continuous missile fire.

Meanwhile, Ukraine reported that the death toll from the collapse of a massive dam on the Dnipro River in Kherson province rose to 16. The dam broke on the 6th of this month.

Russian officials said 29 people were killed in Russian-controlled areas. The New York Times reported that evidence indicates that the dam was destroyed by an explosion carried out by Russia.

At the same time, efforts by African Union leaders for peace failed. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Ukraine and Russia to plead for an end to the fighting, but to no avail.
