In his popular podcast titled 32 Thoughts podcast co-hosted by Jeff Marekthe journalist of Sportsnet Elliotte Friedman reported a very interesting information regarding the future of the star player Auston Matthews with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to Friedman, the new CEO of Leafs Brad Treliving went to Arizona to meet Matthews and chat with him over dinner. The two men would undoubtedly have discussed a contract.

Remember that Matthews will become an unrestricted free agent following next season. There were many rumors that Matthews wanted to leave Toronto to join the Arizona Coyotes or the Los Angeles Kings, two places where he grew up.
