The interministerial mission for vigilance and the fight once morest sectarian aberrations (Miviludes) and the Nursing Order sign an agreement to better support nurses in the detection and care of patients who are victims of sectarian aberrations

The number of pseudo-practitioners, therapeutic drifts due to misleading commercial practices and training leading to qualifications not recognized by the State are worryingly competing with the supply of conventional care. Thus, the disease has become a gateway conducive to movements of a sectarian nature which, taking advantage of the suffering and vulnerability of the sick, can expose them to the risk of sectarian aberrations.

Donatien Le Vaillant, president of the interministerial mission for vigilance and the fight once morest sectarian aberrations (MIVILUDES) and Patrick Chamboredon, president of the National Order of Nurses signed a partnership agreement on June 1. It testifies to the commitment of the two institutions to develop vigilance on sectarian aberrations in health and to ensure that health professionals are informed and the quality of care offered to patients, in particular when the latter wonder regarding their course of care, namely the choice of therapist or “complementary” treatment.

Two priorities have been defined:

  • the exchange of information relating to reports of risky situations, supplemented by the contribution of expertise from MIVILUDES and the transmission of ordinal sanctions when they are linked to therapeutic abuses of a sectarian nature;
  • actions to raise awareness of the risk of sectarian aberrations with the profession by way of interventions, in particular with the regional “sectarian aberrations” referents of the Order, the development of information messages and practical sheets, aimed at helping nurses both in identifying the patients concerned and in preventing the practice of insufficiently tested methods of sectarian aberration.

“Nurses are the only health professionals present anywhere in the territory – if there are medical deserts, there are no nursing deserts. Through our practice in close proximity, through the variety of places where we work or through home visits, through the fact that the nurse can intervene on patients at all stages of life, the nursing profession offers a real knowledge of the real life of the patients we care for. I therefore welcome the signing of this agreement, which will make it possible to support nurses in their daily commitment to patients, by helping them to identify more easily and provide better care for patients who are victims of sectarian aberrations – and to this patient-nurse link is an important weapon once morest these excesses. »

Patrick Chamboredon, President of the National Council of the Order of Nurses
