Dedicated to Marcel Gotlib, brilliant inventor of Rubrique-à-brac, Dingodossiers and other Superdupont adventures, the prize created by his daughter Ariane Gotlieb has just been awarded to Manu Larcenet.

Before making a name for himself in the 2000s with The Return to Earth, The Ordinary Combat or BlastLarcenet worked from 1994 to 2006 for the magazine Fluide Glacial alongside Gotlib: “He is my master, our master to all. He’s a guy who brought comics to its adult state. He created Fluide Glacial and adult comics. He was an extraordinary guy, very humble and who had advice that was worth it” he told France Info.

The prestigious 2023 jury for this prize, awarded at the Paris Book Festival last weekend, was made up of Richard Gotainer, Eddy Mitchell, Thomas Dutronc, Alain Chabat, Antoine de Caunes, Albert Dupontel, Clara Dupont-Monod , Catherine Meurisse and Zep.

Born Marcel Gottlieb in 1934 in Paris, his pen name was Gotlib (without e). Also co-founder of the Echo des savanes, this great master of the 9th art died in 2016, at the age of 82. With his sense of the absurd, parody and nonsense, sometimes schoolboy or punk, Manu Larcenet is one of his most worthy heirs.
