It’s not the thousands of lightbulbs or the red and white banner on the ceiling of Vienna City Hall that turn night into day. Thousands of Upper Austrians are attracted to the Upper Austrians’ ball today in the town hall.

When the Upper Austrians celebrate together in Vienna, there is a very special flair in the town hall, says Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig, who made “his” town hall available to the Upper Austrians for the 120th anniversary of the ball that evening. After all, with more than 70,000 compatriots, Vienna is the second largest city in Upper Austria.

Around 3000 ball guests are expected in the town hall that evening. For Governor Thomas Stelzer, too, the event is one of the big highlights of the ball calendar. “It is always a great pleasure to see how Upper Austria presents itself here in Vienna.”

And the Upper Austrians will be dancing extensively this evening. On the occasion of the 120th anniversary, the ball is attracting visitors this year with musical highlights (including singer Julian le Play, DJ Rene Rodrigezz) and culinary delicacies from the region.
