The famous American combat aircraft will take part in the long-awaited and spectacular flight demonstrations alongside the F-16 Fighting Falconthe Eurofighter Typhoon, and the Rafale. Developed by the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin, the F-35 Lightning II is a stealth fighter of 5e generation among the most successful in the world.

Versatile, formidable in ground attack and air superiority, this single-seater also excels in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare missions.

Unveiled at Le Bourget for the first time in 2017, it will be piloted during this 2023 edition by Major Kristin “Beo” Wolfe, the first woman to present the F-35 at a meeting.

In Russia’s absence, the United States will be a big part of the show in Paris, with 13 Star-Spangled Banner aircraft out of the 158 unveiled to the general public, as well as more than 400 American companies represented in civilian areas. and military.

It will be one of the sensations of this 2023 edition. Developed in the greatest secrecy by Turgis and Gaillard, theAarok is a 100% French MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) drone presented as an alternative to the Turkish Baykar’s TB2 Bayraktar and the American MQ-9 Reaper.

This manoeuvrable and robust aircraft of 5.5 tons, heavily armed and endowed with a 24-hour endurance can easily take off from a roughly arranged ground, according to its manufacturer. Another strong point: its price. Announced between 5 and 10 million euros, almost half the price of an MQ-9 Reaper.

If it manages to keep all its promises, this tricolor drone has serious arguments to seduce the French armies while the war in Ukraine demonstrated the preponderant role of “low cost” flying machines. It might enter service as early as mid-2025, according to Patrick Gaillard, CEO and co-founder of the company, interviewed by Challenges magazine.

Alongside the 777-9 and the 737 Max 10, the American Boeing will pull out all the stops with the brand new 787-9 Dreamliner from the new Saudi airline Riyadh Air.

Positioned on the market for aircraft that can carry 200 to 300 passengers, the 787 is a long-haul aircraft renowned for being one of the least greedy in kerosene in its category.

In March, Riyadh Air, which aims to serve 100 destinations by 2030, announced a giant order for up to 39 of these wide-body jets with an option to acquire 33 more Dreamliners. According to the White House, the order totals $37 billion.

Son concurrent Airbuswho plays at home, also intends to benefit from the resumption of air traffic following the dark years of travel restrictions linked to the Covid-19. The European aircraft manufacturer should present around twenty aircraft, including the A350-1000 and the A321 XLR.

Alternative fuels, new equipment architectures… decarbonization will be one of the major topics of the Paris Air Show 2023, while the aviation sector is today responsible for 3% of global CO emissions2.

As such, several “green” aircraft prototypes should be presented to the general public, such as the EcoPulse from Airbus, Safran, and Daher, the Cassio from VoltAero, or even the Dragonfly from Blue Spirit Aero.

The French company, founded in 2020, will unveil its full-scale four-seater hydrogen aircraft equipped with twelve electric motors and capable of reaching a cruising speed of 230 km/h.

The first test flight is scheduled for the end of 2024, then in real conditions two years later. By 2030, the targeted production capacity is approximately 120 aircraft per year.

Who has never dreamed of taking a flying taxi to avoid the hell of traffic jams? For this 54e edition, the Paris Air Show will give pride of place to new forms of mobility and flying taxis. A space of 1,000 m2 baptized “Paris Air Mobility” will be dedicated to them and will present the different models under development.

Among the key players in this promising sector, Stellantis and the American Archer aviation will unveil the Midnight eVTOL, an electric aircraft capable of carrying four people at a speed of 240 km/h over a distance of 160 km.

Extremely silent thanks to the reduced wingspan of these twelve small propellers, the device would fly at an altitude of around 600 meters. All that remains is to obtain the approval of the American FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), which Stellatis and Archer hope for by the end of 2024, before take-off scheduled for the following year.
