The largest cruise ship in the world – still unfinished – will go on its first test voyage in Finland, Finnish media write regarding this on June 16. We are talking regarding the vessel Icon of the Seas, which is being built at the Meyer Turku plant.
Icon of the Seas is 365 meters long. The ship has 20 decks. There will be 7 swimming pools on board, as well as 40 restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
Meyer says the test swim will last a week. The liner will go to sea to test features that cannot be tested at the shipyard. The first Icon-class ship is expected to be handed over to the customer in October. There will be three in total.
But this is not the only marine giant that is now off the Finnish coast. According to the Suomi press, a whale has been spotted in the Baltic Sea. The fishermen met him near the Aland Islands. And the next day, the whale swam so close to people that you might touch it with your hand. Scientists believe that this is a humpback whale. A humpback whale was last seen off the coast of Finland five years ago.
