This June 15, 2023, Tatiana Mountbatten revealed her rounded belly on Instagram. Almost a year following her marriage to Alexander Dru, the distant cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, but also of Prince Philip, takes a new step in her life, becoming a mother for the first time.

“I’ve been a bit quiet here for a while…I’ve been busy finding my perfect wardrobe and growing a little inside of me.” It is with these words that Lady Tatiana Mountbatten, 33, announced her pregnancy on Instagram. A publication accompanied by two shots taken in what seems to be her room and on which the young woman appears radiant in a black dress, suggesting a nice round belly.

If we do not yet know the sex of the baby, the happy event comes a few weeks before the first anniversary of her marriage to the entrepreneur and aristocrat Alexander “Alick” Dru.

Close to the Windsors

Born on April 16, 1990 and raised on a farm in Sussex, Lady Tatiana is the daughter of Sarah Georgina Walker and George Mountbatten, 4th Marquess of Milford-Haven. It is through this non-dynast paternal branch that she descends directly from Queen Victoria, Tsar Nicolas I of Russia and the sovereign Grand Dukes of Hesse. Alice de Battenberg, daughter of Victoria de Hesse-Darmstadt, is none other than the mother of Philip de Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh and…husband of Queen Elizabeth II. If she does not have a title, she remains close to the Windsors.

If we can see it from time to time in a social evening, Tatiana Mountbatten prefers to indulge in her true passion: horse riding. Dressage specialist and rider emeritus, like several members of the royal family, she might easily be compared to Zara Tindall, the daughter of Princess Anne as they have many points in common.

Warm and discreet, far from the scandals that sometimes shake the monarchy, they attract the sympathy of the Windsors as well as the British. On Instagram, the mother-to-be is followed by nearly 20,000 people, who welcomed the news of her pregnancy with enthusiasm.

For a few more months, however, she will have to put her passion aside, as a surfer has recommended to her. Comment to which she replied not without humor: “To be honest, I still appreciate this break!”
