Today, the café is once once more being talked regarding for its fresco which adorns the wall of its interior terrace. Inaugurated in 2011, it is part of the Stam et Pilou comic book series, produced by De Marck and De Wulf. A drawing that can pose a problem for the managers of the café. “We took over this place being well aware of what it was before, of the cultural and heritage richness that there is here, explains Emil. But what we are trying to create today is a space where everyone should feel comfortable, everyone is welcome.”

On the comic book fresco, we can see a grandfather looking at the body of a young woman: a difficult message to take today. “This fresco conveys a message which, in the sense of a lot of people of my generation, is sexist. Some will say that it is an apology for voyeurism, harassment. Others will say that it is something cultural… There , we find ourselves between two radicalities, and we are trying to find a Belgian-style compromise.”
