If you have high cholesterol, it means that you have too much of it in your blood, and over time it builds up, preventing blood from flowing through your body as easily as it should.

Although this may not cause a problem at first, it can lead to life-threatening medical emergencies such as heart attacks and strokes, so it is important to keep its levels low.

Diet also plays a big role in your cholesterol levels, with foods high in saturated fat being among the worst things to eat.

So an expert warned that the type of meat you eat also affects the levels, and nutritionist Elizabeth Wall said: “Cholesterol is a fatty substance that causes accumulation in the arteries and limits blood flow and is often absorbed from foods, according to the British newspaper “Express”.

And she advised to replace red meat with three other types of meat:

chicken.

Turkey.

fish.

She continued: “Eating a lot of fat and red meat will increase your cholesterol, so it is better to choose low-fat alternatives to products such as cheese, milk and yogurt, and choose lean white meats such as chicken, turkey and fish, and this will help reduce the chances of stroke, heart disease and diabetes.” Type 2″.

Also, avoid fatty and processed meats to prevent your cholesterol levels from getting too high. These include meats such as:

meat

sausage

So Ms. Wall advised other ways to lower cholesterol through diet, making sure to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables

Daily.

Both groups of foods are rich in fiber, which helps remove cholesterol from the body and reduce fat and calories

It’s also a great way to get essential nutrients like potassium and vitamins A and C.

In addition, incorporating magnesium-rich foods such as green leafy vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes, apricots, nuts, seeds, and bananas into your diet will help improve heart health.

She added: “Two types of omega-3s are found in every cell of the body, they are EPAs and DHA and both contribute to the normal function of the heart.

Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids also help control blood pressure and cholesterol, which in turn reduces the risk of stroke. Omega-3s are also found in oily fish such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel, but you can also increase your intake with nutritional supplements.
