The two Norwegians Karsten Warholm and Jakob Ingebrigtsen delighted the fans at the Diamond League meeting in their home country. Warholm won his season debut over 400 m hurdles in Oslo on Thursday just as confidently and in a strong time as Ingebrigtsen over 1,500 m.
World record holder Warholm outclassed the field and won in 46.52 seconds, the fourth best time in history. Ingebrigtsen, who set the world record over two miles in Paris last week, won with a new European record of 3:27.95 minutes.
“Today shows that given the right circumstances I can challenge the world record, maybe even this year. It was really upsetting that I was injured last year and I wanted to make sure I came back with a big bang,” explained Warholm.
The American Erriyon Knighton confirmed his top form over 200 m. The 19-year-old won by a clear margin in 19.77 seconds and clinched his third win in a row on his European tour. Canadian Olympic champion Andre De Grasse finished fifth in 20.33 seconds.
