Los Angeles, June 15 (EFE).- Protesters from five states will join the “We are all Florida” caravan, which will leave San Diego (California) on June 23 for the capital of the “sunshine” state to support the boycott once morest the government of Republican Ron DeSantis and its anti-immigrant policies.
The organizers of the caravan reported this Thursday that they have summoned residents of six cities to join the protest once morest the Republican governor and the immigration law SB 1718, considered one of the most restrictive in the country and which will enter into force next 1st of July.
The caravan will make a two-day stop in Los Angeles (June 24-25) where immigrant advocates from the city and groups from Oxnard and San Francisco will join the cause.
“Florida has declared itself a state that criminalizes its workers, they are so lost that they have not realized that immigrants are their workforce,” Gloria Saucedo, an activist from Los Angeles, said in a statement.
Saucedo also requested “not to do tourism in Florida” as part of the pressure on the state.
With this message the caravan will make stops in Phoenix and Tucson (Arizona), Santa Fe (New Mexico), Houston (Texas), and New Orleans (Louisiana). A group from Chicago, Illinois will also be leaving to join the caravan.
The caravan’s final stop is the Florida capital, where they hope to arrive on June 30 to support a four-day boycott through July 3.
