Brilliant bridge building from brain to heart

Henry Mason has already demonstrated his exceptional talent for subtle, imaginative and fantastic productions. Again and once more he returns to the Linz Theater of the Child, and then it plays Rambazamba in the emotional world of young and old.

Yesterday his adaptation of Erich Kästner’s “Conference of Animals” premiered at the Theater des Kinder. The material is well known: politicians talk regarding problems and do little or nothing when it comes to solutions to war and the climate crisis. After the 86th World Conference has produced paper, but once more nothing tangible, animals get together to show it to the adults together with the children of this world. File folders become elephant ears, a tixo holder becomes a snail, telephone receivers mutate into giraffe ears and a cable becomes an earthworm. What Mason and figure maker Rebekah Wild are doing here is ingenious brain-to-heart bridging. The actors Katharina Schraml, Simone Neumayr and David Baldessari play 25 roles. They perform and support this heavy work, but at the expense of the flow of the game.

Conclusion: fantastic theatre!
