QUEBEC CITY – Barely 48 hours following the end of an era with the departures of Patrick Roy and Jacques Tanguay, the Quebec Remparts launched a new chapter in their history on Thursday, while remaining internal.
“With the objective of continuing the history and tradition of the Quebec Remparts”, Martin Tremblay, Chief Operating Officer of Quebecor Sports and Entertainment, announced the appointments of Simon Gagné as General Manager, and Nicole Bouchard as as Deputy General Manager.
“What the Remparts have most precious is the identity, culture and values advocated by the organization for more than 25 years. That is to say the passion for hockey, the will to win and a close bond with our supporters and the people of Quebec,” Tremblay said in a press release.
“These appointments are part of our clear desire to continue on the same basis as those already established,” he added.
Gagné will therefore assume half of Roy’s former duties, and he will have the mandate to name the team’s next head coach, confirmed Tremblay.
“His junior career with the Remparts, his recent experience as assistant coach and special advisor to the general manager and his impressive professional career make Simon the best candidate to rebuild a champion team,” said Tremblay.
Previously director of team services and media relations with the Remparts, Nicole Bouchard has been in the hockey world for nearly 43 years.
“Having the Remparts tattooed on her heart forever, Nicole has all the assets and all the skills to collaborate in the management of the franchise’s hockey operations”, also declared Tremblay, in the team’s official press release.
Finally, Marc Chamard remains director of recruitment and assistant to the general manager, and Tommy Castonguay becomes vice-president of operations for the Remparts.
