Who never changed the code of iPhone and, minutes later, you mightn’t remember what was the new password you set? This tragic misfortune usually generates even more inconveniences, such as having to reset the entire system to be able to use the device. As iOS 17however, this problem may have a different and much simpler resolution.

According to noticed by MacRumors, the first beta version of the system includes a new mechanic for when you modify your device’s code. When carrying out the change, a period of 72 hours so that the password is reset if you forget it.

Thus, in case you enter the wrong code and the iPhone becomes unavailable, you will be offered the possibility to reset the password using the one before the forgotten one. With this, it will be enough to type the old code and to create a new one, freeing access to the device. In any case, there is an option in Settings to expire the period immediately — that is, before 72:00 — if you do not want the possibility of reset to be displayed.

In addition, it was noticed that the option that allows you to reset the Apple ID password just using the device code continues to exist in iOS 17. Despite this facility being exploited maliciously, Apple appears to have kept it in the system; the company’s senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighihowever, said in an interview that the company is looking at ways to deal with the issue.

It is worth remembering that we are talking regarding a beta version – and the first one. Therefore, it is possible that changes will occur until the final release of the feature, which may or may not be present in the new system. It is still interesting, however, to notice the attention given by Apple to this small, but rather annoying misfortune.
