The Indian government has formulated a new proposal that seeks to regulate the activities of Chinese smartphone manufacturers in the country. The measure came following several revenue actions once morest isolated companies.

According to The Economic Times, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, realme and other Chinese companies establish partnerships with local companies to ensure “greater responsibility” in acting on Indian soil.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has also urged companies to nominate Indian executives in crucial leadership roles such as CEO, CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and CTO (Chief Technical Officer).

On another front, the Indian government also requires that these manufacturers hire local companies to expand the national production of smartphones, even including the purchase of electronic components of Indian origin.

The Central Government of India has emphasized the need for joint ventures with Indian companies to facilitate this production expansion.

This local assembly of smartphones should be used not only to supply the Indian market, but also to export these devices to other countries. The government of India also clarified that the measures seek to create “a balanced business environment”.

The objective is to encourage the involvement of Indian capital partners not only in manufacturing but also in the sales and marketing activities of these companies. The government wants to promote a more balanced and transparent business environment, promoting the participation of diverse stakeholders.
