The trio of businessman submits an offer of up to one billion euros to increase the capital of the Casino group
The trio of “musketeers” positions itself. An offer of up to one billion euros has been submitted by businessmen Matthieu Pigasse, Xavier Niel and Moez-Alexandre Zouari. They thus wish to increase the capital of the Casino group, in the grip of financial difficulties.
In this investment, 300 million euros will be invested directly by the “3F” investment vehicle of the three businessmen and founders of Teract, specifies Challenges, confirming information revealed last week by BFM Business. The purpose of the operation is to strengthen Casino’s equity and help it cope with its abysmal debt.
The CEO of the group, Jean-Charles Naouri, had announced the opening of a conciliation procedure to its creditors. This amicable procedure, decided for a period of four months “possibly extendable by one month” should allow the company, indebted to the tune of 6.4 billion euros at the end of 2022, including 4.5 on its activity in France, to reach an agreement with its creditors with a view to a potential restructuring of its debt.
“The question is therefore who can clean up this financial imbalance”, in the words of the Chairman and CEO. In a letter sent yesterday to his employees, the CEO evokes the track of the entry of “one or more new investors”.
If the name of the Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky comes up often, it is therefore the trio Pigasse, Niel Zouari who have positioned themselves for the time being. Contacted by BFM Business, Casino management does not comment.
