Finest Leiwand: Edmund Rocks Out at Linz’s Posthof Open Air Stage

“Finest Leiwand” – the Austro rockers from Edmund opened this year’s season with two evenings on the fresh air stage in Linz’s Posthof.

In the third year following the opening, one might almost speak of “tradition” – the fresh-air stage at the Posthof car park enriches Linz’s cultural summer life with a wide variety of events. The Austro rockers Edmund had booked two evenings – sold out and sunshine on Friday, not quite sold out on Saturday and following a rainy day. Logically, we had chosen the second evening to attend the opening.

The guys from Jungmeister, who grew up around a bass player, were allowed to open both evenings. They are no longer unknown to us here at subtext.at, as we were already able to welcome them to the radio show “subtext on air” (listen here). On this evening they present “Woamkoid” as well as a Danzer cover, and the new single “Wonnst moi wieda” also finds its way into the almost half-hour program. Quite likeable that a local band with a similar musical focus as the headliner found their way to the Posthof stage. Gladly more often!

Edmund: Sing-along pop-rock

But of course the people had come because of Edmund. Named following the most well-known Viennese workers’ TV representative, Edmund have become one of the most successful artists in the domestic Austro-Pop-Rock business since 2018, when their debut “Freindschoft” was released. Two more successful records followed with “Leiwand” and “Fein”. Amadeus-Award, apparently something like a trademark in this country, of course included. Why Edmund are successful also becomes clear on this, then no longer rainy, Saturday evening in the Posthof: pop numbers, understandable and pressing on the emotion gland. Newly interpreted versions such as “Schatzi” are just as popular as the well-known “Zam oid Wearn”, “Gin Tonic” and “Die Blonde mitn Mittelscheitl”. The audience at this day-rainy Posthof knew their lyrics, were active even in their rain ponchos, and were quite happy following a two-hour rendezvous with Edmund. They know how to entertain the audience and deliver exactly what makes for success and what a good live concert needs. Can you do that!
