The Dominance of Nikola Jokic: Heading Towards First Finals MVP and Even Greater Heights

2023-06-12 14:26:00

Carrying out an absolutely sumptuous Playoffs campaign, Nikola Jokic seems to be at the top of his game today and is heading straight for his first Finals MVP title. But in the eyes of his teammate Jamal Murray, the best is yet to come. And that is pretty creepy.

30.1 points, 13.3 rebounds, 9.8 assists, 54% shooting including 46.6% 3-pointers and 80.6% free throws.

See these stats? These are those of Nikola Jokic on all of the 2023 Playoffs. Pure madness. Even if the Joker does not like numbers, they are more than ever indicative of the extreme domination of the double MVPwho is only one victory away from validating this historic campaign with an NBA title.

It’s hard to imagine Nikola Jokic becoming even stronger than that so much he is familiar with the stars today. Except, obviously, if you are his teammate and meet him every day in training. Here’s what rocked Jamal Murray yesterday at a press conference regarding the evolution of the Joker.

“I think there’s more to come, actually, from [Jokic]… I think we haven’t seen a side of [Jokic] that we’re going to see. He can be just pure dominance, the whole game, even more than he has been.”

“He won his first MVP, and his stats were even better in the second MVP, and today his numbers are even better. I think it’s not over, I think we’re going to see a version of the Joker that we’ve never seen before, where he’s purely dominant, all the time, even more so than in the past.”

Your fingers are shaking just writing it.

Nikola Jokic? Even more dominating? If so, we can pack everything up and move on. Because an even stronger version than the one we see now, it’s almost guaranteed MVP in the regular season and especially other opportunities to win the NBA title with Denver.

Without wanting to go faster than the music, Nikola Jokic and his family are regarding to hang a first banner from the ceiling of the Ball Arena, and an even more dominant Jokic will necessarily mean even more formidable Nuggets in the future. Because the Joker has this incredible ability to take everyone with him, to transcend the collective and to make his teammates better. Jamal Murray is a good example, Aaron Gordon too, and so many others.

What happens when you combine all-time passing ability, special footwork, coordination, touch and size?

You get Nikola Jokic.
1 of 1.

At 28, Nikola Jokic is a generational player who is both technically and physically in his prime. It pushes the limits of efficiency and versatility year following year. On these Playoffs, he even asserted his defensive qualities without forgetting to raise his voice in the locker room when necessary. In short, the total.

How far can he go? Nobody knows. What we do know, however, is that if the Joker doesn’t stop, the rest of the NBA can lay down their cards before the game even begins.
