Riyadh: The country’s new aircraft ‘Riyadh Air’ flew over the capital city, marking a new milestone in Saudi Arabia’s aviation history. On Monday at one o’clock in the followingnoon, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, fully owned by the Public Investment Fund, took off from King Khalid Airport.
The Royal Saudi Air Force’s display team accompanied the Saudi Hawks jet as the purple-colored aircraft flew low over the King Abdullah Economic Zone, the King Khalid Grand Mosque, the tall Kingdom Tower on the side of King Fahd Road, and the Faisaliah Tower.
Today was the first official flight of the ‘Riyadh Air’ aircraft, which is scheduled to start in 2025. Crown Prince and Public Investment Fund Chairman Amir Mohammed bin Salman announced on March 12 that ‘Riyadh Air’s aircraft registered number N8573C flew over Riyadh exactly three months ago. Ensuring the best comfort and service in the world, ‘Riyadh Air’ will serve 100 destinations around the world by 2030.
Envisioning state-of-the-art features, innovative cabin setup and digital entertainment systems, Dreamliner aircraft will be the most modern expression of technology. Riyadh Air is headed by Tony Douglas, the former CEO of Etihad Airways, the national airline of Abu Dhabi.
