Denouncing a situation which “has never been so serious” at the public hospital, the unions of hospital doctors are calling for a “day of strike and action on July 4”.

Tension mounts in the hospital. After the unions of civil servants, who plan a mobilization on June 20, the doctors are putting pressure in turn. Three unions of hospital doctors call for a “day of strike and action on July 4”, denouncing a situation which “has never been so serious” at the public hospital and demanding “the immediate resumption of negotiations” with the Ministry of Health.

“The public hospital is collapsing in whole sections”, denounce the three unions of hospital practitioners (CMH, INPH, Snam-HP) in a press release released on Saturday, calling for “a day of strike and action for the day of the 4th July”.

Wages at the heart of discontent

The white coats thus intend to protest once morest a situation which “has never been so serious” for this profession “which has become a real foil”, both for “young doctors (who) no longer want to commit themselves” to the hospital and for those “of all ages (who) are quitting more and more”.

The three unions – which represent more than 40% of practitioners, and even 70% of university hospital staff – also put pressure on the Ministry of Health by demanding “the immediate resumption of negotiations” suspended for a month.

In particular, they ask for “a general increase in all remuneration to take inflation into account”, as well as an “immediate revaluation” of night and weekend on-duty and on-call duty, the main causes of “the arduousness of the exercise hospital medical”.
