The Cuban actor Carlos Treto, with a long career in the theater, television, cinema and radio on the island, died this Sunday, as confirmed by several publications by colleagues and official pages on social networks.

The causes of his death have not been disclosed so far. The Municipal Directorate of Culture of Plaza de la Revolución highlighted that the artist, born in 1953, worked at the Hubert de Blanck Theater Company.

In addition, he stressed that his most recent performance was in the play “The Witches of Salem.” She also worked with the Vital Teatro company. In the same way, “he is remembered in the children’s television program “Sopa de palabras”, in the humorous “Vivir del cuento” and in the telenovela “Asuntos Pending”, which is currently broadcast on Cubavisión, where he played the character of Omar, the director of the UEB Terrazo”.

At the time of his death, he was the coordinator of the Caricato Award and presided over the section of actors of the Association of Performing Artists of the UNEAC. In the last two years he joined the anti-racist activism from the Aponte Commission and the Cuban Color program, the publication underlines.

Treto worked in workshops and short films at the San Antonio de los Baños International Film and TV School, and was part of the cast of the Cuban film “Operación Fangio”.

The National Council for the Performing Arts reported that the mortal remains of the actor are in the Playa funeral home, at Calle 70 corner to 29, while the burial is set for tomorrow Monday at 9:40 am.

“Great professional and an actor who knew how to assume with great talent and delivers each and every one of his characters,” described the Cubaactores portal. Colleagues from the Treto union, such as the prominent actor Héctor Noas, mourned his death.

“Today I wake up with two very screwed-up news: the death of actor Carlos Treto Cedeño for whom I felt great sympathy and the excellent Spanish journalist (Cuban by adoption and soul) Mauricio Vincent. Both still have a lot to contribute. Life is so ephemeral and unpredictable that it easily leaves us devastated. Eternal light for both of us!”, he said, also mentioning the correspondent of the newspaper El País, who also died this Sunday.
