The airline company Japan Airlines might place a new order at the Paris Air Show for 50 Airbus A321neo et Boeing 787wheras’Ethiopian Airlines will decide by the end of the year on additional widebody and small single-aisle aircraft.
The Japanese flag carrier is targeting two types of planes according to BloombergTHE A321neo (a new type in its fleet) to replace its aging 737s, and the 787 Dreamliner (family of which it already operates 24 787-8s and 22 787-9s) to replace 767s and 777s. Its low-cost subsidiary ZIPAIR has six 787-8s.
If confirmed, this order would be Japan Airlines’ second with Airbusof which it commissioned 16 of the 18 A350-900 ordered in 2013, with 25 options (the first of 13 A350-1000 expected approaches). Let us recall that it is already expecting from 2026 the deliveries of 21 737 MAX 8 acquired last March, which will join and/or replace the 42 737-800 currently operated.
No announcement expected in the coming months at Ethiopian Airlineswhose CEO Mesfin Tasew, according to Archyde.com, spoke of valuations for wide-body aircraft as “the A350-1000, 787-9 et 777-9 » but also small single-aisle aircraft Airbus A220 or Embraer E195-E2. The Ethiopian flag carrier’s fleet includes twenty A350-900s (four others have already been converted to A350-1000s), 27 787-8s and -9s, six 777-200LRs and four -300ERs – as well as short- and medium- – courier 33 Dash-8 Q400 and 39 aircraft of the 737 family (NG and MAX).
