Accidents on Set Strike Again: Gladiator 2 Crew Members Injured in Morocco

Accidents on set have occurred once more, this time involving the production of Gladiator 2 which is located in Morocco. There was an accident during the shooting of the action scene in the film which injured several crew members.

Reporting from the BBC, it was stated that none of the crew were critical due to the incident and they are all now in a stable condition and are undergoing treatment.

Summarized from various sources, it is stated that this accident occurred during a scene of successive explosions in the film. Unfortunately the explosion occurred near the crew and injured six people.


“A huge fire rose into the air and hit some of the crew, it was really terrible. In all the years I have worked in the film world I have never seen an accident this scary,” said a source to The Sun.

“Everyone was affected, from the runners to the stars. They were all shaken up,” he added.

Gladiator 2 returns to be directed by Sir Ridley Scott, who directed the historical drama in 2000, and is slated for release in November 2024.

No title has been announced for the sequel, which stars actors Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington and Connie Nielson.

Gladiator has won five Oscars, including best actor for Russell Crowe, who played the Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius and Joaquin Phoenix as Emperor Commodus.

The film is set at the height of the Roman Empire, where Maximus was a war hero before being forced to become a gladiator because slander once morest him and his family forced him to flee.

Gladiator earned $457 million at the box office and reinvigorated the historical epic drama genre, which audiences had been neglecting for decades.
