The Le Mans night shattered Peugeot’s very fine start to the race. So at the forefront, the Peugeot 9X8 n°94, driven by Gustavo Menezes, made a mistake at the first chicane of the Hunaudières.

If the French car was able to return to the pits, the blow is hard for the Peugeot clan, which sees its best chance of a good result fly away. Left 11th following the episode, the n°94 is currently 16th in a general classification dominated by the duo Toyota – Ferrari.
Brendon Hartley is currently leading the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans, 7.9 ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi’s n°51 Ferrari, which returned to the lead following Alessandro Pier Guidi’s exit at the start of the night, having notably taken advantage of the long Safety -Car following the collective accident of the Tertre Rouge having eliminated the Toyota n°7.
Earl Bamber keeps the no.2 Cadillac – Cadillac Racing in third position at 1’40”, when André Lotterer hoists the best Porsche 963 no.6 – Porsche Penske Motorsport in 4th position, 44″ behind Bamber. Following in the same lap, Renger van der Zande (Cadillac n°3). Jean-Eric Vergne (Peugeot n°93) is two laps away and precedes the two Glickenhaus 007 LMH n°709 and 708.
Porsche #5 was delayed in the 10th hour by a leak. Ferrari now has only one 499P capable of aiming for victory since the n°50 of Molina – Nielsen – Fuoco lost several laps following a stone damaged a radiator.
In LMP2, and despite an injured foot in an incident with another car in the pit lane, Fabio Scherer maintained the Oreca 07 n°34 – Inter Europol Competition at the head of the category, a car currently driven by Albert Costa.

Nicolas Pino follows with the Oreca n°30 – Duqueine Engineering, Tiejmen van der Helm pointing in 3rd position with the Oreca n°65 – Panis Racing.
If Project1-AO and the Porsche 911 RSR n°56 have long led in GTE Am, it is now the Ferrari n°57 – Kessel Racing and the Porsche 911 RSR n°85 – Iron Dames who are at the forefront of the category .
Note in the collective accident involving the Toyota n°7, the Oreca 07 n°35 – Alpine and n°39 – Graff and the Ferrari n°66 – JMW, Louis Prette (Ferrari n°66) and Memo Rojas (Oreca n°35) were found responsible for the collision, following accelerating before the next Slow Zone and causing a collision.
