“Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski dies at the age of 81

Kaczynski was found dead in his cell in a North Carolina prison, > reported, citing US prison officials. Between 1978 and 1995, the former mathematics professor caused fear and terror in the United States with mysterious bomb attacks.

It killed three people and injured more than 20 others. The attacks were mostly directed once morest universities and airlines – “universities ‘n airlines”, which earned him the name “Unabomber” following the initials of these targets.

In April 1996, Kaczynski, who lives in a hermit hut in the mountains, was arrested following a tip from his brother and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1998 – despite being diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. According to prosecutors, hatred of technology drove his actions.

In September 1995, the “New York Times” and the “Washington Post” published a long manifesto by Kaczynski, in which he expressed his abhorrence of modern technology and the contemporary world. In return, Kaczynski had promised to end his series of attacks.
