LEONI, a German cable manufacturer specializing in the automotive industry, is strengthening its presence in Morocco by setting up a factory within the Sous-Massa industrial acceleration zone, developed by MEDZ, a subsidiary of CDG Development (CDG Group).

This unit, planned on more than 74,000 m², will be dedicated to the manufacture of electrical cables for motor vehicles, indicates a press release from MEDZ.

With an overall envelope estimated at 190 million dirhams, it should generate the creation of 3,000 direct jobs in the long term, thus allowing LEONI to better serve the Moroccan and European markets, the press release adds.

About this installation, Mr. Mohssine Semmar, Chairman of the Management Board of MEDZ, said he was satisfied, because “it testifies to the confidence placed in MEDZ and the permanent efforts that it deploys on a daily basis to develop the sector of the automotive industry in Morocco, across the entire value chain”.

“Our deep conviction is that this project will initiate a change in the Business Model of the automotive industry in the Souss Massa region,” he said, quoted in the press release. The Souss-Massa industrial acceleration zone is the result of a partnership between MEDZ, via its subsidiary Parc Haliopolis SA, the Souss-Massa region and Crédit Agricole.

Located in the Municipality of Drarga, less than 5 minutes from the city of Agadir, this multi-sector generalist park benefits from many assets, in particular an advantageous location, very good connectivity, an abundant and qualified workforce in region, and incentives related to industrial acceleration zone status, the statement concludes.
