The Korean Federation of Trade Unions’ Remicon Transportation Union held a rally at Yeoui-daero, Yeongdeungpo-gu, at around 1:00 pm on the same day, demanding the guarantee of the union members’ right to live.

They urged the extension of the supply and demand control system to prevent the oversupply of construction machinery and the guarantee of three labor rights for ready-mixed concrete truck owners.

As of 2:00 PM, the organizers estimated 14,000 people gathered to fill Yeoui-daero and marched regarding 2km to the National Assembly Station via KBS.

On the 7th, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions made a decision to suspend participation in the Economic, Social and Labor Council, a tripartite dialogue body directly under the president, and declared on the 8th that it would start an all-out struggle to judge the Yoon Seok-yeol regime.

The KCTU construction union held a candlelight cultural festival in memory of the late Yang Hoi-dong, an executive who set himself on fire at 6:30 pm on the same day in front of the Seoul Finance Center in Jung-gu. Organizers estimate regarding 500 people attended the rally.

After the cultural festival, the construction union marched to the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu and held a 40-minute rally.

The construction union raised an objection to the police, saying, “The sidewalk in front of the police station where the rally has been reported is blocked with career to prevent access,” but the rally ended around 9pm without any conflict.

Police seized and searched the construction union office in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu the day before.

A memorial service for the June 10 Democratic Uprising was held to mark the 36th anniversary.

The Pan-National Memorial Committee for National Democratic Martyrs and Victims marched for regarding 30 minutes from Bosingak in Jongno-gu to Seoul City Hall at 12:30 noon, carrying 633 portraits of the mourners, and then held a memorial service on the road east of Seoul City Hall.

About 1,000 people, estimated by the organizers, attended the memorial service, condemning the government for pushing for an “anti-union” stance.

In addition, progressive civic groups Candlelight Victory Transformation Action (Candlelight Action) and the conservative Freedom and Unification Party held their own rallies.

The Candlelight Movement held the ’43rd Candlelight March’ at City Hall Station in Jung-gu and the main road in front of Sungnyemun Gate to demand the succession of the spirit of the June 10 Democratic Uprising and the resignation of President Yoon Seok-yeol. Organizers estimate the number of participants is regarding 5,000.

About 100 people attended the Free Unification Party’s ‘Rally once morest Jusa Faction’ held in front of Dongwha Duty Free Shop in Jung-gu from 1:00 pm.
