The Free Agent: 2023 Top NFL Free Agents and Their Potential Landing Spots

2023-06-10 12:06:30

A few weeks before the opening of the 2023 season, many free agents are still looking for a contract.

Dalvin Cook, RB

Dalvin Cook is one of the best running backs in the NFL and was recently released by the Minnesota Vikings because of the team’s cap space knowing that Cook had a greedy contract. Dalvin Cook achieved for the fourth consecutive season more than 1000 yards at the
race. Dalvin Cook can also serve as runner-receiver. He might land in Denver with the Broncos since this is a very interesting profile but we are also talking regarding the Miami Dolphins even if they may be restricted from signing Cook because of the cap space.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR

DeAndre Hopkins is a very good receiver and without a doubt one of the most courted free agents today. The veteran receiver, former Arizona Cardinals, will be 31 in the 2023 season. Despite an age that makes him a veteran, Hopkins is still a very good receiver. He will be able to attract a few teams that can benefit from the experience of the former Arizona player. DeAndre Hopkins can be the target of franchises such as the Patriots, the Dolphins or the Bills. Be careful not to ask for too high a salary.

Yannick Ngakoue, DE

The former Colts defensive end is surely the best current free agent as a defensive weapon. With 9.5 sacks last year, Ngakoue will be able to attract teams wanting him as a top rusher, one of his great qualities. The Chicago Bears are expected to be Ngakoue’s primary stakeholder.

Marcus Peters, CB

Marcus Peters and the Ravens parted ways this year. Peters hasn’t had a full season since 2018 while this one will be 30
years in the 2023 NFL season. The former Ravens cornerback has excellent field vision and good reading of the game. However, Marcus Peters is starting to have a low diet lately. We might find Peters with the Lions or the Vikings next season even if everything remains to be done.

Dalton Risner, G

The former Broncos Guard also finds himself a free agent during this offseason. Risner ranked 10th in the league in run block win rate with 74.4% success rate. However, he struggles when asked to block passes with a 31st place in the guards standings. The Cincinnati Bengals, the New York Giants as well as the Los Angeles Rams would be interested in
Risner. However, Risner will have to reconsider his budget preferences when signing a future contract.

A second part of the best free agents to sign will be available soon on The Free Agent. In the meantime, in which
franchises will sign these free agents?
