There are not a few immigrants who, currently in the United States, are unaware of the procedures related to their Identification Cards (ID Card). Especially if it is regarding renewal, replacement or request of the card itself. In this sense, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) clarifies some issues.

The first thing is that to carry out the procedures you need a main identification, which can be one of these original documents with your full name.

A valid proof of resident registration (Green Card or Form I-551); or an I-551 stamp in the passport. It can also be in the form I-94.

An order issued by an Immigration Judge guaranteeing Asylum status also works. This must contain the number of admission to the client’s country, which is a number that begins with the letter A.

In the same way, the I-797 form is accepted, which must contain the number of admission to the client’s country. In this sense, it must indicate that the Asylum status has been guaranteed to the client.

In addition, the I-797 form or any other document issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) also works. The requirement is that it must include the number of admission to the client’s country, indicating that the Refugee application has been approved.

What regarding the Social Security test?

For this procedure, you must have the original of one of the following documents with your full name and Social Security Number.

It can be the Social Security Card, with the client’s current name; or the non-handwritten Form W-2. Likewise, a payroll payment voucher works; Form SSA-1099; or any 1099 form not written by hand.

For the Residence Address Proof, people may not use their current Driver’s License or Identification Card as proof.

In this case, they will have to present two different documents with their Florida residence address. It is valid to clarify that printed documents via fax or prints are accepted.

In addition, applicants who obtain a Class E license or Florida identification card may have addresses outside of the state or US territory.
