For two days, the file of Pierre-Luc Dubois takes quite enormous proportions.
We know he wants to leave the Jets right now and that, you will understand, opens the door to speculation.
Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman discussed this yesterday giving three potential destinations for a possible trade: Montreal, New York (Rangers) and Minnesota.
Today, Marek linked Dubois’ name to the Stars, the Hurricanes…
And the Tampa Bay Lightning. No, it’s not a prank.
Marek on 32TP podcast yesterday said he wonders regarding NYR and MIN for Dubois other than Montreal, today throws out Dallas, Tampa and Carolina as potential landing spots for him if Montreal doesn’t happen for whatever reason.

It is surprising.
After all, the Tampa Bay roster doesn’t necessarily have a lot of room on its payroll due to the big contracts already in place. If Julien BriseBois deals with Kevin Cheveldayoff, he will have to “send salary” to compensate because we must not forget that Dubois should sign a long-term contract which will pay him Not bad silver.
In fact, Dubois would ask for $9 million per year… Which is a lot. And the Lightning don’t have the luxury of giving him that much money, once more, because of the players who are already under contract in Tampa:
The whole thing is still quite intriguing. Yes, Dubois would like to play in Montreal…
But just because he wants to do it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, even if Elliotte Friedman believes that the Canadian is (by far) his preference when it comes to his next team.
If the scenario were to happen, on the other hand…
Murat Ates, a reporter for The Athletic who is assigned to cover the team, raised the idea of seeing Dubois (and Ville Heinola) being traded to Montreal for the fifth overall pick in the upcoming draft, along with Joshua Roy .
Everything caused a reaction and I don’t necessarily need to explain why.
Pierre-Luc Dubois’ camp will work with the Jets to arrange partners for a sign and trade — a process which I believe has already begun.
So who might be on Dubois’ wishlist? What might Winnipeg get back?
Plus, why Montreal is a tough, tough ask:

We are all wondering at the moment the direction that the Quebecer will take in the coming weeks. Yes, it’s true that we’ve been talking regarding it a lot lately…
But it’s part of the news and the file holds the attention of the four corners of the NHL.
When a player of his caliber becomes available, that’s often what happens. And, since we know that he would like to play for the Canadiens, his case has attracted even more attention.
The Wild, the Rangers, the Canadiens, the Stars, the Lightning, the Hurricanes (who said they wanted to add punch to the attack)…
Which team will win the derby Pierre-Luc Dubois?
