The forecast came true and an intense snowfall took off in Bariloche this Friday followingnoon. It mainly affected the west and south of the city, which generated serious complications for coinciding with the boys leaving school.
According to the Bariloche Civil Protection Secretariat, the most complicated sectors are Brown Street to the south, the highest parts of Pioneros Avenue and the route to Cerro Catedral. There were some car crashes on Pasaje Gutiérrez street, near Brown.
From the municipality they indicated that although only regarding three centimeters accumulated in the highest sectors, many people circulated No proper covers or chains.
«We find many people who do not know how to drive in the snow and who end up generating all kinds of conflicts. The machines might not pass because the vehicles were crossed. Urban passenger transport might not pass either. And keep in mind that little or no snow fell. Now luckily, it started to rain,” said Patricia Díaz, Secretary of Civil Protection.
Classes were suspended in the night shift because it is expected a strong frost that might further complicate transit.
The Río Negro National Highway District reported that National Route 40 between Bariloche and El Bolsón is passable with extreme caution and the use of chains is mandatory since there are sections with snow accumulation. Meanwhile, national route 23, between Dina Huapi and Comallo, is also passable with extreme caution due to muddy detours, snowy roads and sectors with loose stones.
The administration of the Nahuel Huapi National Park reported that this Saturday the circuits to Tronador and Cascada los Alerces will remain closed due to rainfall, snowfall, overflowing of streams and rivers, risk of falling trees and anticipation of frost. Park rangers work to clear fallen branches and prepare trails.
