Game News He spends hundreds of euros to save the Pokémon he lost 15 years ago…

Since the arrival of Pokémon Home on the Violet and Scarlet episodes, it is possible to transfer your creatures from your Game Boy Advance to your Switch! But at what cost…
$340, or around €316. This is the price “Roxaschao” had to spend to bring his childhood Charizard, with whom he finished Pokémon FireRed 15 years ago, back to Pokémon Purple. For this, he was ready to pay any amount. But the price of the necessary hardware shopping list is not the only obstacle: there are a large number of steps to transfer a pocket monster from the Game Boy Advance to the Switch.
To start, the Charizard is in Pokémon Colosseum, on GameCube. You have to start by transferring the creature to a third generation game (Rubis, Sapphire or Emerald) using a cable connecting the GameBoy Advance to the GameCube. Next, one needs a Nintendo DS with a fourth generation game (Diamond, Pearl or Platinum), insert it into the console, and use the GBA port of the DS to put the game of the third generation used in the previous step. For the sequel, two DS will be needed to make an exchange between the selected fourth generation game and a fifth generation game (Black, White, White 2 or Black 2). After all this, it will be necessary to insert the fifth generation game in a Nintendo 3DS, regardless of the model, having the Pokémon Bank application to send the Charizard there. Then the last step: transfer the pocket monster from the Pokémon Bank to Pokémon Home on a Switch to finally recover it in Pokémon Purple!
A nearly impossible Pokemon rescue
It is possible to circumvent these steps by resorting to hacking, but to transfer your pokemon in a “legal” way, following the route provided by Game Freak, you had to invest 340. A sum that is not necessarily representative since the inflation of the Pokémon second-hand market increases prices enormously. The more time passes, the more expensive this course will be, even impossible with the backup batteries of the old cartridges which will eventually break down, forever deleting the pokémon they contain. Unfortunately, the closure of the 3DS eshop in March 2023 makes the task even more complex. If you had not downloaded the Pokémon Bank application before it closed, it is impossible to obtain it “legally” except by buying a second-hand 3DS with the said application, which does not run the streets.
