As one of the most biodiverse countries on our planet, Brazil is a model of sustainable agriculture and has regulations in place to protect the environment throughout the production chain. However, the business potential of this segment is not always made clear to potential investors, while at the same time supporting policies for the global protection of natural resources. “The European market is very keen to know how the Brazilian agricultural market works, what its capacities are and how it is included in the ESG agenda. With excellent statistics in the field of sustainable management, protecting, conserving and developing the use of organic inputs, the Brazilian agribusiness is also showing solid results, starting in 2023 with a surplus of $8.69 billion * what for investors who have capital in Green-Bond segment with social and environmental security and a financial return is very attractive,” says Fabricio Pezente, Managing Director of Traive.
In 2022, Traive’s Responsible Commodities Facility (RCF) initiative, run in partnership with SIM and OPEA, attracted US$11 million in investment from UK retailers Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose to protect forests and support the DCF -free soy cultivation in the Brazilian Cerrado. Thanks to the incentives set through socio-environmental criteria, the initiative has a 0% non-compliance rate among the 32 farms funded, which produced 42,400 tons of soy, 27,000 tons of corn and 3,200 tons of cotton, all without deforestation, leaving 8,541 hectares of forest were received.
