The school teams of five people each completed five practical and five theory stations during the competition under the supervision of an accompanying teacher. Under time pressure, the topics included the treatment of heavily bleeding wounds, the correct behavior in mountain bike accidents, resuscitation with and without a defibrillator and the playful querying of theoretical knowledge. The teams are well attuned to each other and show what they can do professionally learned everything in the first aid courses. Fair play and team spirit are the top priorities.”

First aid saves lives and is very easy

In order to teach children and young people how to act correctly in emergency situations early on and in a playful way, the Austrian Youth Red Cross enables schoolchildren to take first-aid courses during their school days. Over 100,000 students become new first aiders every year. The children and young people from all over Austria can then demonstrate what they have learned in first-aid competitions at district and state level, and the state winners take part in the national first-aid competition. The federal competition is supported by Lidl Austria.
