It’s official recently, VOO is now the property of the Orange group. A change that will impact consumers, but above all offers new growth opportunities for the company. During a press presentation on Thursday, Orange announced its ambitions for the months and years to come. “Driven by its long-term industrial project “Lead the Future”, Orange Belgium aims to strengthen its market share in Belgium by taking first place on the podium. By joining its commercial forces with those of VOO, the telecom operator will combine the skills and expertise of the two companies to take leadership in 2 major areas”, we promise on the side of the operator.

It’s done ! VOO is sold to Orange

The first axis concerns the offer to customers. “Orange Belgium and VOO aim to be the leader in offers, serving the “premium” segments as well as the “access and digital” segments. The fundamentals will be access to very rich TV content, the expansion of a multi-gigabit fixed network and a loyalty program that best meets customer expectations. Thanks to the new Android TV set-top box, various innovative features will be launched in the coming months to meet changing customer needs, such as extended recording time (Q4 2023), catch-up TV (2024 ), intuitive search and voice features, etc.

At the end of June, Orange will also launch the third generation of its cable modem, called “Livebox”. Also in June 2023, Orange will update its broadband offers by integrating “different speeds at a fair price, offering customers the choice between 3 different speeds to meet their needs: Standard (150 Mbps), Boost (400 Mbps for 15€ / additional month) and Boost Giga (1 Gbps for €25/additional month)”, we learn in particular.

Bad news for Proximus and Orange customers!

The other axis is the strengthening of customer services. Orange is thus launching a paying VIP service (My Comfort Service) which promises greater efficiency. “For a monthly fee of 10 euros, customers can receive a visit from an expert who will carry out a complete diagnosis of their connectivity needs, guaranteeing the highest quality Wi-Fi service throughout their home thanks to the installation of one or more Wi-Fi booster(s) and unwavering 24/7 internet service via a 4G backup solution. This premium service also includes reduced waiting times for new installations or repair calls, one free technical call-out per year, and free modem upgrades, TV set-top boxes, and Wi-Fi boosters on demand.

Telecoms are expensive in Belgium, all the more reason to compare: up to €350 in savings by dropping Proximus, Voo or Telenet!
