A news scout got a real surprise when he landed in Zurich on Wednesday.

People without a Swiss or EU passport had to be very patient.
People with Swiss or EU passports have to queue on the right, everyone else on the left: A news scout recorded an impressive video at Zurich Airport on Wednesday followingnoon several hundred meters long line of people showing without Swiss or EU passport to enter Switzerland want.
“It’s completely crazy,” reader Dario can be heard saying. He had just arrived on a direct flight from Costa Rica. At the beginning of the video you can see dozens of people he has already passed on the way to passport control. The news scout walks through several corridors, descends a flight of stairs – while the Swiss goes straight to the exit, everyone else stands in line on the left.
According to Dario, two to three airport employees looked following the passengers. “It all seemed a bit improvised,” he says. For him, the situation is a “complete catastrophe” and “shameful”. The staff at passport control was “completely overloaded”, he had “never seen such a long queue in Zurich in my life”. And he travels very often, he clarifies.
He observed “long faces” among the waiting people. Although nobody raised their voices, many seemed annoyed. “I was surprised myself – in a negative sense,” says the news scout.
“Passport control at Zurich Airport is the responsibility of the Zurich cantonal police,” explains a media spokeswoman for the airport.
