The law proposal of the independent group Liot, wishing to repeal the law having postponed the retirement age to 64, was finally withdrawn. It had been emptied of its flagship measure last week by the deputies meeting in the Finance Committee. And the debate, planned for a long time in the National Assembly this Thursday, June 8, was in any case buried in advance since the president of the institution had announced yesterday that she would block this examination, judging the measure unconstitutional, because it creates a burden on public finances.
“There is nothing left in the text except obviously the amendments of the presidential minority. In responsibility, we have decided to withdraw our text”, told the press the boss of the group Liot Bertrand Pancher, following more than two hours of eruptive exchanges.
After the failure of this attempt to repeal retirement at 64, the Nupes tabled a motion of censure once morest the government, with a view to a vote next week in the Hemicyle.

From the perch, the person concerned, from the Macronist ranks, justified herself on several occasions: “The Constitution, nothing but the Constitution, is my role”.
In return to these criticisms, the Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt pointed to a proposal “almost nihilistic” et « vide ». “You don’t offer anything other than to discard, because you don’t have a common alternative project”, he launched to the supports of the text, from the Nupes to the RN through some LR.

A source within the group had indicated this Thursday morning that it was likely that Liot withdrew his text before even examining what was left of it. The aim is to give a chance to be debated to some of the six other texts that the group has prepared for its “parliamentary niche”, while this reserved day must end no matter what at midnight.
The one listed in second position aims to increase revenue from the tax on financial transactions (FTT) by making the financial sector contribute. Another, carried by the deputy of Guadeloupe, Olivier Serva, concerns the Overseas Territories. In particular, it proposes extending existing mobility assistance schemes to workers in these territories.
Even adopted by the Assembly, the repeal proposal would have had only a slim chance of succeeding at the legislative level, the Macronists have constantly argued.
