  • A benefit concert for the former Greek terrorist couple Nikos Maziotis and Pola Roupa is to take place in the Sedel music center on Friday evening.

  • Proceeds will go to the former leaders of the far-left Greek group EA.

  • The city of Lucerne condemns the extremist event.

An unusual benefit concert is to take place on Friday evening in the Sedel: At the event, the proceeds are to go to two former Greek terrorists and leaders of the left-wing extremist group EA (Epanastatikos Agonas, Revolutionary Struggle): Nikos Maziotis and Pola Roupa. The couple was for his crimes convictions, including bank robberies, bombings and an attack on the US embassy in Athens, such as «central plus» reported. The European Union and the US classified EA as a terrorist organization following the 2007 attack on the US embassy. Nikos Maziotis was the most wanted terrorist in Greece until his arrest in 2014. Maziotis was sentenced to 50 years imprisonment, as the «Tages-Anzeiger» (Paid Article) reported in 2014.

That is why the family of the terrorists should receive money

The benefit concert at Sedel is said to be dedicated to Pola Roupa, Maziotis’ partner, who became the first woman to head a Greek terror group. Proceeds from the concert will go to a family member with health issues who has custody of the couple’s son. The Sedel belongs to the canton and the city is a tenant of the former prison. The city of Lucerne supports the Sedel with CHF 140,000 per year. There is also additional funding from other communities. The city was not aware of this event. In principle, however, the programming is a matter for the organizer. However, it is expected that the programs in subsidized companies will be put together with the necessary sensitivity and foresight. In addition, the city condemns sexist, racist or extremist events.

That’s what Sedel says regarding the event

The Sedel, which only provides the premises, emphasizes its political neutrality and only bans events that violate principles such as racism and sexism. Little is known regarding the organizer “Free Conscience/free society”. The organizer did not want to announce much to “Zentralplus” either. He wrote briefly: “We are a group of people who defend political prisoners in Greece and once morest their unjust prison conditions.”
