Mumbai: A middle-aged man has been arrested for killing his 36-year-old life partner, cutting her body into 20 pieces, cooking it in a cooker and feeding it to dogs. Manoj Shahane (56), who lived in an apartment in Mumbai’s Mira Road area, is in police custody.
The Mumbai police said they are investigating the reason that led to the shocking murder. Both were living in a live-in relationship on the seventh floor of Akash Deep Building’s flat in Geeta Nagar for the past three years. Neighbors informed the police regarding the smell coming from the flat yesterday evening.
During the preliminary investigation by the police, the body parts of a woman were found in a decomposed state from this house. After killing Manoj’s partner, Saraswati Vaidya, the body was cut into more than 20 pieces using a wood cutter, police said.
Then the body parts were put in a cooker and cooked and then put in a plastic bag to be thrown away. The investigation team has also recovered around 12 dismembered body parts from the house. The Free Press Journal reported, quoting the Mumbai Police, that the dismembered body parts were cooked in a cooker and then fed to the dogs.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajibale said that it is suspected that there was a dispute between the two and then Manoj Sahni would have killed Saraswati. The DCP said that a detailed investigation is underway into the reasons that led to the murder.
